I’m so ready for the New Year! Who else is feeling grateful for the incredible energy that comes with a fresh start? I’m working on all my plans for the year ahead, so I thought I’d share a few little tips that may be helpful in planning your year as well.
Here are a few ideas to consider when moving forward to help you create your best possible year:
1) The best way to create positive change is through deliberate action taken consistently. A simple way to keep yourself on track with this is to keep a separate paper calendar for a particular big goal and put an X over each day that you’ve taken some kind of action toward it. You can also can try linking a new habit you want to create with an already existing habit (habit stacking). This trains your brain and puts your new habit on the fast track! (Examples: do 25 squats while brushing your teeth, do 2 minutes of stretching or a quick meditation while your coffee is brewing, etc.)
2) Vow to be kinder to yourself this year. Forgive yourself once and for all for past missteps and mistakes. Know that you’re doing the best you can. Open your heart to the gift of a fresh start knowing that this moment now is all matters. Step up your self care, set boundaries, and speak your truth.
3) In addition to planning your big goals for the year, also break the year up into quarters and set quarterly goals and to-dos that support your big goals. Set time on your calendar each quarter to review what you’ve completed and set new goals accordingly. I love to create a mini retreat day for myself each quarter to do this, and to also celebrate my wins that quarter. It may seem simple, but you’d be surprised how much more you can accomplish in a year by breaking it into doable chunks with self-created deadlines. It works!
These are all things I’m applying with the intention of creating one of my best years ever. I’d love to hear any additional tips you have. Feel free to drop me a DM or comment on Instagram. I always love hearing from you.
Sending much love and support for the year ahead. Let’s make amazing things happen!
